The way we spend our days together is different, too. And you make a good point - I think where so many of the mommy discussions go wrong is assuming our way is the best for everyone. Not only that, but children are individuals, too! Just because it did/didn't work for one family doesn't mean it will/won't or is/isn't the right thing for another family. What works today, this week, this month isn't going to work for your family in a year, not exactly anyway. Example: my first two slept in my bed, full time, until they were 2ish. Mack, who will be a year next week, has never co-slept full time with us. There are a bunch of reasons why I came to that decision, but the most important part is that I'm doing what works and when it stops working I regroup and figure out what will. The trick is in the delivery. If you preach that your way is the best way and everyone else is neglecting their kids, well then yes, not many folks will want to read what you've written. What you said about CIO was perfect - you're not judging other parents, you're saying how it makes you feel, how you see it. Brilliant (and by the way, I agree).
