I’ve always had a stash of notebooks and half-written stories hidden under my bed. I gave up on the idea of being a writer sometime in high school. I’m still not sure why. Instead, I got a degree in psychology and spent the next 13 years burying my muse in court reports and case notes.
In 2007, I started blogging on myspace as a way to stay in touch with my friends, but it was really an excuse to start writing out loud again.
I married my soulmate in November 2007.
We’re nerdy homebodies who like to watch sci-fi shows and go geocaching with our dog.
In March 2011 this happened:
We tried and tried until it worked, then I spent most of the pregnancy on bedrest. Fortunately, I had been laid off from my most recent crappy mental health job in 2008. I tried to find another job for years before I gave up. Our plan was always for me to be a stay-at-home mom, the staying home part just happened significantly earlier than the mom part.
If you’re into using labels to define people, we’re “crunchy”. We cosleep, babywear, cloth diaper, practice a combo of baby led weaning and feeding her homemade organic baby food, and I breastfeed Mini E whenever she wants.
In December 2011 we moved from Oregon (my husband’s “home”) to Pittsburgh, PA (my “home”). As we settle into our new lives, I’m finding my voice as a writer, and gathering up the courage to use it.
Welcome to our family.
