I Need a Vacation!

I can hear you scoffing.

“A vacation from what? Didn’t you just get a job after being out of work for 6 months?”

And yes, that’s true. I mean, it’s not like I’m feeling particularly stressed or overworked and I need a break.

But, in case you all haven’t noticed, I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately. This week has felt especially rough because both the hubby and I have had lots of annoying little errands to deal with. Nothing major, just a ton of small things that turned out to be much more difficult than they needed to be.

My PMS hasn’t been helping things either. Not only does it make me extra weepy and emotional – case in point: I just now almost dissolved into tears, actual tears, because we’re out of the Puff’s Plus lotion tissues with the Vick’s in them – it means I’m not pregnant. Again.

We were emailing the other day while he was at work and he said something about how it would be good for us to get away for awhile. He’s right. It will be so good for us to get out of the day to day sameness of everything and get some perspective.

For a while now we’ve had some major Life decisions that need making and we just can’t seem to make them. We’re not arguing, we just can’t come to an agreement about what we want to do, and I think it’s because we either truly don’t know what we want to do, or we’re afraid to make a change. Or some combination of both.

It’s causing us both to feel stagnant and depressed, and I think a nice long road trip full of new sights and experiences – and plenty of time to talk – is going to be just the thing for us.

I’m not going to go into detail about the Life decisions we’ll be making – mostly out of laziness cause if I did it would be a whole separate post – but if all goes well I’ll be making some announcements when we get back.

Our friend Allison from Tales From LaLa Land is getting married next weekend, so we’re heading to sunny LA! Instead of just flying down for the weekend, we decided to make it a road trip with some fun side destinations. Plus that way we get a whole week of vacation instead of just a weekend.

The fun side destinations? Well, if you know me at all, you know where in LA I would most want to go, and that’s Disneyland. We’re only going to have one day at Disneyland, but that’s fine with me.

No offense West Coast, but I’ve been to Disneyworld three times and everyone knows it’s way better. So I have no desire to make sure I get to see everything, cause I’ve already seen it. As far as I’m concerned the day will involve Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, eat, drink, repeat.

Then we’re going to stop off in Reno on the way home. It’s not exactly on the way but we’re going to make it be. There it’ll be gamble, eat, drink, repeat.

So, hopefully the announcement I’ll be making when we get back is that we struck it rich from a nickel slot.

PS. The general consensus of the comments and emails I’ve gotten about guest posting is that most of you can’t even keep up with your own blog. Which I find strangely awesome and comforting because it means I’m not alone. So the blog and the link of the day will gather dust while I’m gone. You know, same as if I were here.

Yay for coming to LA. You will be pissed at first because of traffic, but if you guys truly want to get away, just pack up some snacks and beer and chill at the beach in the sun ALL day on Saturday before the wedding. (Be sneaky with the beer as it's no-no). :)

So glad you guys will make it.

That sounds like an excellent plan – they have showers on the beach, right? I don't want to show up to your wedding looking like a sweaty homeless person ;-)

And Jerrad will be doing all the driving, so when we're in traffic I'll just tweet or something. HA!

I'm excited too! Not just for the vacation, but because Holy Crap You Are Getting Married! We wouldn't miss it.

Hi this is your sister, I don't feel like going to the trouble to log in so I am not. Anyway Disneyland is cheaper than Disney World. We are going to DW in 10 days. It sounds like you will have a great trip. If you strike it rich please share. I will call you later.

Everyone could use a vacation from life now and then. If you need it, take it. Have fun at the beach and the wedding. I have never been to DW to DL so take pics and share so I can see what the fuss is about. And strike it rich, that would sure make your day.

I just wanted to do a P.S. posting here: I have been really emotional this weenend as well. I watched a couple of movies (which is unusual enough for me as I don't usually watch any tv), and I sobbed during both of them. They are old movies and I knew exactly what happened in the end, but I sobbed anyway. I guess we can cry and be emotional together this week.

A vacation, sometimes just a break in routine, helps. And reno is very nice :)

A mini vacation can do wonders.
I've never been been to DW but Disneyland is my favorite place in the whole wide world. :)

May I also suggest a trip to Universal Studios…

Safe travels and good luck on your hard decisions, I hope you get the answers you want.

If you want I can try to remember to do a guest post, or I can repost anything from my blog over here. I have internet access M-F only though. If you want to pick a day I will set myself a reminder on my outlook. Then I can't forget.

Thanks everyone :) I can't wait until it's time to get in the car and start driving!

And I think I'm not going to be able to get it together enough before we leave to set up guest posting – but I appreciate the offers. Very much!
