It’s Always Something

That’s a favorite saying of my dad’s, and man is it true.

Jerrad left for work this morning, and returned 15 minutes later because his car wouldn’t start. He had to call AAA to get it towed to the car hospital. It’s been acting funny for the last week or so, and now we’re just praying it’s nothing terribly expensive to fix. On account of how I don’t have a job and we are trying to buy a house.

Speaking of how I don’t have a job, I have to go to a “Claimant Reemployment Orientation” at the unemployment office tomorrow at 8 am. First of all, it just sounds like lots of fun from the title alone, and second of all I have to be somewhere at 8 am. Never mind the fact that these days I’m usually still asleep at 8 am, I haven’t had to be anywhere at that ungodly hour for years. My last two jobs had a 9 am start time, and the one before that was 8:30.

Now I need to be there promptly at 8, professional looking, with my resumes and job search in hand. Fortunately, unemployment matched me to a job and I found two others to apply for that aren’t great, but aren’t completely awful either.

In between that and reading all the blogs I read and farting around on facebook and the laundry and the dishes and the dirty house, I might not be posting new material for a few days.

But. I am going to be posting lots and lots of my old blogs. I’m going to backdate them to the date I originally wrote them, so I don’t think those of you that subscribe by email will get inundated with emails. I apologize in advance if you do.

Anyway, hopefully later today there will be a little menu doohickey at the top of my blog with the following categories, all of which will include both old and future blogs:

  • The Path to the Altar All the old blogs from when Jerrad and I were planning our wedding, and any other funny wedding type stuff I come across in the future.
  • Confessions of a Yo-Yo Dieter All my old weight loss blogs, including my time with Nutrisystem. Plus current and future stuff about my battle with the same five or so pounds that come and go according to my level of laziness. It will definitely include my struggle to lose future baby weight. Because I assure you, when I get pregnant, I am going to eat everything in sight.
  • Living With IBS This one is self-explanatory, no?
  • Yes, I’m Catholic Don’t let the irreverance and potty mouth fool you, I’m Catholic. I love talking about my faith, and that includes answering questions about it, as long as they aren’t rude and condescending.
  • Meandering Musings For blogs that don’t fit in anywhere else.

Obviously, some blogs may show up in more than one category, and new categories will be added in the future. Hopefully I’ll get around to editing the labels on the ones I’ve already posted so they show up in the right category.

Gah, now I have to go start mentally preparing myself to leave the house tomorrow. When I left the house today to take my husband his lunch, I opened the back door to leave and was greeted by the bare, hairy ass of my next door neighbor as he was bending into his car to retrieve something. Hopefully it was his underwear.

I hope your re-employment orientation was fun! You should have gone in there un-showered, with messy hair and dirty clothes. They aren’t hiring you. They are just giving job leads and headaches. You are too good for most of the jobs out there anyway.

It most definitely was not fun… but it wasn’t awful either. It was quite blog worthy.

and they basically said I was too good for most of the jobs out there ;) as evidenced by the fact that they couldn’t give me a single job lead. Not one.
