Nutrisystem: Week Nine

I was NOT good this week. I skipped two workouts. Thursday night we went out to dinner at Applebee’s and I did pretty well – I ordered from the Weight Watchers menu and had dry white wine.

But then when we got home I had a few more glasses of wine. This caused me to oversleep the next day and not have time to workout before work.

On Friday, I don’t know what happened. I got Subway for lunch, which wasn’t bad. I got a healthy sandwich with fat-free dressing. Then in the afternoon it all fell apart.

There was a funeral at the Church, and those are typically followed by a luncheon/reception. There is almost always extra food and the family usually wants to feed the parish staff too. This isn’t the first funeral we’ve had since I’ve been on Nutrisystem, but this time I cracked under the pressure and ate two pieces of fried chicken.

It was so delicious. I also had about a tablespoon of potato salad and a wheat roll. With butter. But it could have been much worse, and I stayed completely away from the desserts.

When I got home from work I convinced Jerrad we should go to Quackers and watch the WVU game. I decided that since the day was already blown, and I’d been planning a cheat meal Friday night anyway, I may as well just be really bad and get a cheeseburger.

So, I got a cajun cheeseburger and fries with ranch dressing. It was also delicious. I had two beers. Umm, and a shot of Patron (see previous blog). For the rest of the evening I drowned my sorrows in three more shots of Patron and about 3 glasses of wine.

I was worried that when I woke up on Saturday I wouldn’t be able to get back on track, because that’s what always happened in the past. But I did – I was back on the plan 100%, drank lots of extra water, and got my hungover ass on the elliptical.

I was starting to get a little frustrated because my weight loss has really slowed the last few weeks, but when I weighed myself today, I was down a pound. Maybe it was increasing the intensity of the workouts, even though I skipped two.

I’ve read on the NS discussion boards that if your loss slows, they actually recommend a “cheat day” to stimulate your metabolism a little. I’m sure that doesn’t mean consume like 3,500 calories, which is probably what I did on Friday, but it seems to have worked.

Weight loss for week nine: 1 pound

Total weight loss: 17 pounds
